2015!

  1. Go to the temple. Every Week.
  2. Study the scriptures. Every Day.
  3. Write in my journal. Every Day.
  4. Become self-reliant. Or at least more so..
  5. Exercise regularly and not eat the typical college kids' diet. Well do my best.
So more or less this isn't a big shocker of goals this year. I am in a good place and have good habits so right now I just am goaling to keep them up. Which is over half the battle. I love to go to the temple so I need to make a priority in my life, I mean I need to take advantage of it being so close. And the scriptures give me so much more clarity to my life and any challenges that come. So I need them daily. Keeping a journal has become to special to me. Being able to go back and really see the change in myself is very rewarding. And so becoming self-reliant probably won't happen in just one year. But I realized I need to learn how to... so at least I'm going to start. In 2015 I am going to get my very first job. I am embarrassed really to even admit that. But I gotta start somewhere! And also, we all know how every college kid eats, and I despise that. I cannot survive off of prepackaged food. And so I will try my best to take care of myself by eating and exercising well. I mean I'm not like bawaling junk food because I need that to live, I just want to have normal meals with healthier food more often than once a week. So yeah those are my goals, lets all see how well I do! I  wish you all  a Happy  New Year!

What Is Your Gift To Christ on His Day?

Its Christmas Eve. Families are together and happy. Kids are not so patiently waiting for their gifts. And it's the night before Christ birth. Isn't it so amazing that we all go ALL OUT for our Saviours birth? We give presents to all our loved ones. Cook up the best dishes. But do we really remember Him? We give gifts to show people just how much we care for them and how grateful we are for them. Shouldn't we do that with our Saviour? So What Is Your Gift To Christ on His Day? Will you donate a bunch of money to some place? Give away all your clothes and toys to those in need? Or will you Use His Atonement To Change Yourself For Him. His Atonement is the greatest gift ever given to you. Do you remember this gift and how it's been a part of your life? Analyze your life. What could use improvment? What could you do to make Him happier? How can you be close to Him? And so in the mist of the great Christmas crazy of giving gifts to all, don't forget to give Him a gift. Give Him A Gift that is Yourself, but a better YOU.
Maligayang Pasko!

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

Since I've been home the mission I've had lots of questions ask about my experience, one question stood out.
"After all this, what do you see when you look in the mirror?"
My answer to that question made me realize a change really happened. I see a daughter of God. I see something to be proud of. I am so happy with myself. Not because I have the best clothes, hair, or make-up. But because I know my Father in Heaven is proud of me. I served Him. I did my best. I became the best me that I could in the time I had. And I will never forget that 18 months of my life. It was the most hardest, tiring, challenging, and most best, happy, and rewarding thing I could have done. I love how it's changed me. I just hope all my old friends and family notice and accept this new and improved Kendal. And that I continue on being her. I love who I am. I know He approves. I Know That He Loves Me. And that is what matters to me.

Week 75

Hello po! So this is kinda crazy- I am writing my last email. (I think... pretty sure we don't really have time next week. but if we do... you'll get another!) I honestly don't feel like I am going home. It just feels like another transfer is coming up. But anyways. This past week was super crazy. We had exchanges on tuesday which went super well. I was in the other Sisters area but I really enjoyed my day. We did a lot of finding which is tiring but I can tell the Sister was happy because they have some new investigators- which has been their struggle. But the next day we had more exchanges with the other set of Sisters in the apartment. But yeah things happened. And the exchange didn't happen. Don't really want to go into detail but it was one of the most stressful days of the mission. Grabeeee! On thursday Sister Sanchez and I taught District Meeting about finding. We had a really good activity so the Elders all had a lot of fun. On Friday it was the birthday of the Branch President here in Bacon so we bought him a cake and ice cream. And had a party at his house with his family. It was super nice and he was really touched. He really does so much for his calling even though there are so many problems in his family. On sunday we were upset because we didn't have any investigators scheduled to pick up to come to church. Just no one wanted to. But when we show up- Juliana is there!! She's come to church before but only when we pick her up. She always is like too shy to come on her own. But she did! It made me SUPER happy. She is really progressing and will probably be baptized in the coming weeks. I was reading in Mosias 5 this week and really liked this because we learn how important it is that we learn who our Master is. Serving the Lord for the past year and a half, I have gotten to know my Master. I know what He wants for me, and I am doing my best to follow. I wish I could share with you all the amazing things I am learning here, but really you just need to get to know your Master. And have His name written always in your heart.
12 I say unto you, I would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hearts, that ye are not found on the left hand of God, but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called, and also, the name by which he shall call you.
13 For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?

week 75

Hello po! ok so the space bar on my keyboardsucks. GAH! Anyways. This week wassuper fun! We Went to Manila! HA! We go up to Legazpi last monday and like just do not much the whole night. Then on tuesday me and my batch all flew to Manila! Whichwas SUPER fun. Well actually, while we were in the place doing our visa stuff it was super stressful but after that! We went to the Mall of Asia! HA! Super non-missionary. But it was great! Walking around and looking at stuff. At night when we went back to the hotel, there were like 50 other missionaries also spending the night. BUt they were there because the next day they were all going home! So we all were like super left out. Ha! And had to go back to mission life. BUT its all cool.We got back to our area like late on Wednesday and then yeah. We have been doing our best to work. We are still in the threesome but this week not many members worked with us. So we split our times between the areas. In the other area there was a baptism on saturday. IN THE OCEAN! It was super fun. Last night we were on splits thought and I was with a member. And had a great lesson. We taught about faith and repentance. And SHE brought up baptism. Turns out she saw the baptism on saturday, she happened to have been there by the ocean. We didn;t even notice her but yeah! She said how she really felt that it was the right way. We are working things out so that she can come to church next week. Yup so that was my crazy week. Mahal ko kayo!

Week 73

Hello po! Things are so crazy! Ha! I will try to tell it all! Well this past week we had exchanges which were OK. I was in the other Sisters area. Made me realize- Bacon is really so small. But its okay because I love it. We had a lot of members work with us last week. And its always way more fun when members are with you. There are a lot of YSA here in Bacon which is nice. And some crazy stuff happened, and Sister Mwea is now our companion! We are in a threesome! Sister Mwea has been my housemate 3 times here in the mission (and literally have had all the same areas!) and we are super close. AND NOW we are companions! Its like SUPER SUPER fun together. Luckily though members are working with us so we can do splits and still work in the 2 areas most the time. BUT the other day we had no members and we were in our area. We just finished teaching this GREAT investigator, and then there are two ways back to town- one by like houses. And one by the sea- walking on the seawall. OF COURSE I picked walking on the seawall. But it was a bad choice. Because it started raining. And we were soaking wet. The rain mixed with the wind from the ocean was not very nice hahaha but it was funny. Saturday we struggled- EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE was at the cemetery. So we end up doing service at the chapel. Cleaning the chapel. It was a better use of time that just walking from house to house with no people in them. But yeah. It was a great week. And this next week will be kind of crazy because I have to travel up to Manila tomorrow morning for visa stuff. Anyways! Hope your all good! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 72

Hello po! Well it has been a crazy week. I'll try to tell it all. To start- Sister Sorenson was super sick last monday and we ended up going to the ER (which are super creepy in the Pines.) When we get home she is just out. And I text the APs saying that we probably won't make it to transfers in the morning. The next morning I was write. She couldn't go. SO things get super crazy and I get companions with this Sister in the zone who had no transfers and she was just supposed to go down to  Legazpi and it was super crazy. Then turns out- all the Jeepneys are on strike so we can't get down. SO things were like peak crazy. They send up the senior couple to drive us down ha. And I was transfered OUT OF ALBAY! WHAT! I just spent 17 months in one province, and now am in Sorsogon for 1 month ha! Crazy stuff. I'm actually in a small town called Bacon (yeah it makes me laugh too) The Branch is awesome but small. But the few members there are- are super strong and loving. We are just in a meetinghouse which is new for me. But its all good! My companion is Sister Sanchez, she is super chill and funny. And a great missionary. OH! And the best part of Bacon? It's on the beach. Like literally! Almost everywhere we go, we can see the beach. We live across the street from a resort and yeah its super MAGANDA! We've already had 2 FHE's in one week here. So yeah its' going to be a fun transfer! I am really trying my best to just trust in Heavenly Father- I don't know why I got put here for only 6 weeks- but I want to help it all that I can. Things are fun so far and hopefully it all ends well. Time is flying by though which is sad. I want to make the most of every minute. I love being a missionary! I hope you are all doing good! Namimiss ko kayo!

Week 71

welp. it happened. ive been transferred for my last 6 weeks to a new area. I dont know where yet. but it is kind of upsetting. But I am glad to say that I know I've left  this area better than I found it. We have awesome RCs that are active (where as the others are not... yet) and we have members who are finding joy in missionary work and are losing the fear of giving referrals. We have branch members trying to do more home and visiting teachings. And it will keep improving here. But why do I ahve to leave? Gahhh.
Anyways- we had a good week. On tuesday we show up to a less active family who was in the middle of packing up chicaron (pork rinds in English i think) and we got to help!! it was super fun! and i ate a ton hahaha. Then we had just a fun time. We have this one investigator that we recently found, Jeffrey, who like met an Elder 10 years ago and was given a pass along card. Then never was taught but KEPT the pass along. Then he met us and really wanted to know more.(oh and he lives like down the street from the church. but has been too shy to just show up). We have been teaching him and he is sooooo ready. Its like so amazing. And we already have members fellowshipping him. Then there is Liza and her kids who are doing good and will be baptized soon too. Things are going so well here. I am gonna miss it. Later we have an FHE with a bunch of members. It is so hard when you get close with people just to leave them! Anyways- hope you are all okay!

Week 70

Hello po sa inyo lahat! This past week was so crazy. We realigned the areas so we had a new area with no one to teach. So we tracted. We literally went door to door. AND ! Miracle! We got in A TON! We had a lot of lessons last week considering we had to do so much finding. And we had interviews with the mission President that took up and entire 3PM onwards (LONG!) and then it was General Conference! I loved conference! I learned so much! And had a lot of questions and prayers answered. I encourage everyone to watch and read and study the words of our living Prophet and Apostles. I hope you are all doing good! Sorry not a lot of stories this week! Mahal ko kayo!

week 69

Things were CRAZY this week! We had exchanges on Tuesday which was super fun BECAUSE my companion was Sister Andrada! She goes home in two weeks. It’s crazy how different it all was compared to back when I was in training! Shows me I really have improved! That was nice. Then on Thursday we find out that was have to move apartments! ASAP! Like they wanted us to move that day- we told them we couldn’t! Ha! We set it up for Saturday to move. But it was super stressful! We just moved in with the other Sisters here in Polangui, there apartment is for 4 Sisters anyways. But we go to move in and the apartment was disgousting. Sooo we had to clean that- which was super tiring. But now! Everything is done and moved in and cleaned. And its all good. And now we can work closer to the church and more like in Sentro which is safer. But it means we like have had to drop all our investigators and whole teaching pool and this week will be starting over from scratch almost. We kept a few of the really progressing people out in our old area but very few. So yeah things will be fun this week- literally going house to house. I LOVE TRACTING! Ha. Well I will after this week. We also had Zone training this week on top of everything. IT was super good and made me realize how we can improve our teaching by using members more. We have some awesome members here who are willing to work with us so its great. Then we watched the General Womens Conference this past Saturday. I loved it! It really had me thinking about how we need to be a TRUE disciple of Jesukristo! I am trying to change and do all that my Heavenly Father needs me to do. This week is like a start over and I am taking as a chance to really change and become a better missionary, following the Spirit is all I do. Pray for me that I have something to report next week ha and not just that we went from house to house with no success! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 68

Hello po sa inyo lahat! So we had a challenging week but hey! That's what makes you more grateful for the good weeks... Ha positivity. But really- like this is the only time for the rest of my life that I can tract house to house and not be scared. So I am gonna love it! But we had a lot of less actives come to church yesterday! A lot of them for the first time in a long time. So that's great! Oh last monday we had a Family Home Evening that turned out amazing. We expected just like 5 or 6 of us there. It turned out to be a full house with like 20 members. It was so fun! We are hoping to do more! This week has been a lot of tracting and rain so yeah funnn times. One night, we just finished teaching this less active family that lives like at the end of a big rice field. Like imagine a long skinny road and on both sides just pure ride field for liek ever. But yeah we were leaving this family and its like pouring rain. And as we start walking it becomes a huge lighting storm. And we see it hit in the fields like next to us. And basically run for our lives. It was so scary. But funny to laugh at after. OH! And the funniest thing happened this week. We were crossing one of those awesome bamboo bridges and I was on the other side waiting for Sister Sorenson and all the sudden I hear I big crack sound... HA! She broke the bridge! It was so funny. She was so scared but yeah again- afterwards in was super funny. The people were all super nice about it... But yeah. I've always loved those bridge and joked how I would break one. Then yeah she did. Makes me kinda scared to walk on them... but there is no other way! (Don't worry it wasn't a huge fall where she broke it!) And then the last story- we were teaching this family last night (sunday night) and the little kids were the best. But me and Sister Sorenson were laughing so hard at what they said. The first
"Nakita ko ka kanina!" (HA! ko ka! I remember always saying that in the MTC and didn't hear anything wrong. NOW I do. HA!)
"Nagnood kami" (meaning like past tense)
SO yeah those Tagalog grammer things probably make no sense to like any of you but they are funny. Tagalog kid versions. So cute. I love that I'm not like that anymore! Ha. Anyways! Hope you are all doing good! namimiss ko kayo!

Week 67

Well its been a great week! Sister Sorenson is so amazing and such a fun companion. Going around like two white girls is pretty funny here. We have some awesome stories but I won't share them now. This past week was great and a ton of members have been working with us. And for the first time we are like getting fed! ha. oh and i am learning to cook! I even cooked with coconut milk this week. Basically I am a true Filipina now! On saturday ESTEL and ESTELITO WERE BAPTIZED! It was super crazy before hand (we have like evacuation people because of Mount Mayon living at the chapel, so its kinda crazy there.) but it turned out so great. And they are so happy! They really were a prepared referral! If only all our investigators were like them! Then that night we had an appointment with this one family, but in the past the wife has never sat in so we couldn't teach. and the family was never complete. it would be the father with 1 kid or 2. And he seemed interested but just like ok lang. But this time we went and they were all there. All waiting. and we taught the best lesson about the Restoration ever!!! And they all were so interested and accepted a baptismal date! Like they really really seem interested! They really remind me of the Besmontes and how they were so prepared. The Enriques family is SO prepared. I am so excited to keep teaching them. So yeah that was our week. But really I have so many more stories. But yeah. Hope you are all doing good! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 66

Hello! This past week has been great! I got my new companion! Sister Sorenson, from Wyoming! She has been here for a year now so she is great and its been so much fun this past week. We went to BYU the same year together and so we have a lot in common. Its fun. We had a great week too. We did a lot of finding (like always) and had some pretty funny stories. We had a new investigator come to church! We had picked her up because she was shy to show up alone but she loved it. And brought her little kids. She will be back next week too! I love seeing people so interested in the church. The Alpapara family is doing great and will be baptized soon :)! Umm oh ha. We had NO ONE at church yesterday. The attendance went from 180ish last week to 81 this past sunday. It is because it rained like so hard for so long. We woke upsaturday morning to rain, and it didn't stop all day. Then the next morning on sunday its still raining, and there is no electricity. SO yeah NO ONE went to church. OH how we need to strengthen the members here.... Kayang kaya! Siyang (too bad) for them because there was a great talk. This Brother spoke and read from 1 Nephi chapter 3. And people always focus on verse 7 right? He talked about verse 5. it says
And now, behold thy brothermurmur, saying it is hard thingwhich have required of them; but behold have not required it ofthem, but it is commandment of the Lord.
so yeah like we shouldn't be murmuring because of commandments! i liked how my companion put it- like we have commandments to help us! when we complain about following like we are making it harder for the lord to bless us. i encourage you all to continue to read the chapter and see the greatness Nephi does because of his willing heart. I hope you are all doing good! I am happy so yeah! Ha! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 65

SOrry! I have like NO time. Our pday is almost over! There hasn't been internet here all day until like now. So yeah! Gotta type fast. Our week was good. We found out my companion has like a foot problem so since then our work has gone down which is boring but oh well! Patience. We had an awesome saturday with a ton of baptisms in the branch (other missionaries and some 8 year olds) and then afterwards a Branch Activity. OH! We had an investigator show up to  the baptisms and he was really interested so that was cool and unexpected. The Branch Activity was super fun- just a family home evening. But a ton of people showed up. We had 3 missionaries here in the branch going home this week so the party was for them. The branch is trying really. Just needs help pa. We got transfer announcements and Sister Mercado is transferred. I am so sad. She has been a great companion (and taught me to cook awesome food!). Sorry no more time! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 64

Hello po! It was a great week. We are really seeing progression in the area! On tuesday we went to Legazpi for zone conference which was super fun. We got to see a bunch of friends from the mission. And learned a ton. I really realized how if I want to see more success in the work I should focus on families. I remember how amazing it was to have the Besmontes baptized, and I want to have that again. We actually have a father and daughter who are really progressing right now. And have come to church many times. We thought there was going to be a problem, because we thought Tatay wasn't marrried. But found out yesterday that he is! (His wife doesn't live here though). We are so excited! They are really studying all that we are teaching them. It is so great. We also have another investigator progressing! He is SUPER DEVOUT CATHOLIC. Like the most I've come across here. He was in Seminary to become a Priest for a few years but stopped. But still really active. Oh and he is only 18. Ha. But he has A LOT of questions and of course this gospel has his answers. So he has been loving meeting with us. And I am learning a ton from teaching him because before we teach him we really do prepare a lot. I love it! He came to church yesterday and enjoyed it. This past week has been a ton of work. Work work work- in the rain rain rain. Oh rainy season- how I love you. Not. Anyways- I hope you are all doing well! OH and MERRY CHRISTMAS! It's now -ber month so its the start of Christmas season in the Pines. Super masaya! Ha! Mahal ko kayo!

Week 63

It was a good week. we are really seeing progresison in our investigators and like we are just doing goodfinally. we have some amazig investigators. like Alpapara. its a dad and his daughter. the daughter is 12 and ready for binyag but we are waiting to rty and get them together. tatay is finally showing progression. hes come to churc h2 weeks in a row now. and then there is Angelo- super super catholic. they have a HUGE saint in their living room (its really weird to teach next to it) and he had a ton of questions like almost debating. but when a member testfied to him it like stopped him. since that lesson he has been sooo progressing. we really thought he'd go to church yesterday but he didnt. we are going back tomorrow. oh! mount mayon is on level 2 alert. haha does that scare you that im next to an active volcano? i think its cool.... anyways we can see lava like flowing out from it. and a ton of smoke. but level 3 and up is when its like bursting and stuff. but yeah bc its like active its superrr hot. and solike it rains a lot to like counteract the heat. andddd i dont have an umbrella. it broke a few weeks ago. so i have been going around like a wet dog all week. sis mercado trys to share hers but then i feel bad cuz like then she gets wet too. id rather just me. but yeah now i have a cold. dont worry i bought an umbrella earlier. its my 8th one in the mission. bad luck talaga.
im upset about you not picking me up. i had expected you would this whole time. but like i realize its such a short time period. so yeah im upset but ill get over it. it will be good to see grandma and grandpa too. i love you both! have a good week! oh! JB looks so big! thats crazy hes like my height! i was shocked! hes no longer my little brother... :( i miss you!

Week 62

Hello po! This past week was long. We had exchanges on tuesday which seems like weeks ago. But it was just like a week ago. Crazy. While on exchanges we tracted this family. Who are like super super interested. But it's been hard getting back with them as a complete family. But we are trying! On saturday we got to teach Estel, she is a great investigator who has come to church for 3 weeks now. But she is only 12 years old (which I realized that Jacob is 12 the other day... but Estel seems really mature. And I think of Jacob as like 4 years old still...) so we are trying to really teach her father. He has always been busy every time we went until saturday! We taught him! And it was great! He even said closing prayer! And committed to church on sunday. And sure enough! Yesterday we walk into church and Tatay and Estel are there! It was so happy! Then right as I am talking to them and saying hi the first counselor in the Branch Presidency comes up to me. And tells me I am speaking. Oh the joys of a small branch. Missionaries speak almost every week and its always by surprise. It's a miracle I've made it this many weeks without talking. So I talked about the Book of Mormon. This past saturday I finished reading the Book of Mormon for the 4th time here. And my testimony of the Savior has grown so much. I really really love the Book of Mormon and learn so much from it. And I encouraged all the members (and all of you ) to read it daily. Because when we are reading the words of Christ we will receive strength to live this gospel and to share it with others. I hope you are all doing good! Namimiss ko kayo!

week 61

Hello po! This past week things have started to go back to normal. We are working like normal (well with a 6pm curfew) and trying our best. But luckily the electricity came back to our area on Saturdaymorning so we no longer have a 6pm curfew! And we are moving back to our apartment in our area later today. I missed it ha. We had zone training this week which was super sad because a ton of missionaries here in the zone are going home. We have one investigator, Estel, who is progressing. She's come to church two weeks in a row now. The only problem is she is only 12 years old... We are trying to teach her father with her so please pray we can! She is really interested. This week I have really learned about prayer. It is such a blessing that we are able to pray to our God, our Heavenly Father. I really encourage everyone to pray every morning and night. It's a simple commandment that means so much. Too often people forget to pray and thank for all the blessings we have. One thing I've learned in the Pines is gratitude. So make sure to pray and give thanks! Time is really flying. I can't believe its almost the end of summer over in the US. It's so hot here. Like its kind of sickening. But hey- only a few more months of heat. I'll enjoy it before I have to come home to freezing temperatures.. Namimiss ko kayo!

Week 60

Hello po sa inyo lahat. This week hasbeen well. Still no electricity in our area so its been hard to the work but its all good. There is electricity in the town- just where we live and where we work there isn't. But we moved to live with other sisters in town until we get electricity. and just travel everyday to our area. annoying but worth having a fan to sleep with ha. we did have one great lesson this week. we were teaching about joseph smith, and the investigator had great questions. and RIGHT as I go to say the first vision, HUGE RAINFALL that is so loud and impossible to speak. We just all laugh. Our investigator is like "Please God I want to hear what these Sisters are saying! Stop the rain!" and after like 3 minutes it stopped. She was amazed ha. But we continue with the lesson and the Spirit was strong. She is really interested so hopefully we can continue to help her. Ummm what else? Oh the new sister in the district is Sister Maualuga, she was in my district in Legazpi for 4 months. So it's fun being with her again. Sorry this short! Hope you are all good! Mahal ko kayo!

week 57

Well it was an OK week. I can't believe its PDAY already. Time is flying. I wasn't feeling good one day so we stayed home. Just slept all day. But was back to good the next day. We still taught 35 lessons even thought we missed an entire days work. Sister Mercado is really good. I love talking with her. We all know I can be really talkative ha. Imagine just her is here to listen to me. Sometimes she just laughs because I can talk for an entire day about anything. Nonstop. But yeah what else do you do- there is no one else to talk to! Ha. Um what happened this week- we went to a funeral for some old lady that I never met. It was a nice service. Sister Mercado ended up speaking ha. Originally I was asked but I played the "I'm not good at Tagalog" card and got out of it. Ha. Whenever I don't want to speak I say that... Even though I totally could. Tagalog has gotten so much easier and I don't even think twice when I speak. We had interviews with the Mission President- normal as usual. He bought us Jollibee so I was happy. And yeah we have some investigators but are not many progressing. Except this one family that we got as a referral like last week. They are really good and we thought they would show up to church. But didn't- bummer. But we are going there later tonight so we'll see. I hope you are all doing good!

Week 56

Well 5 months na lang! We hit another month in the mission. Its going by so crazy fast. This past week we had zone training- at which I received my "deworming pill" which is like yeah. You have to eat it after 1 year in the mission to like deworm... I haven't ate it yet. I heard it tastes TERRIBLE and its like scary...what if I have a worm? I'm not like sick so I don't think so but still... I am scared and haven't done it. I don't want to... SO yeah you all wanted to know about that. But yeah we had zone training so we went into the City here- Ligao City. It's about the same size at Tabaco so like small. But bigger than where I am now ha. It was good- about the importance of having investigators attend church. One of our struggles here. We ended up having exchanges this past week too. It was okay. Not much to tell... Sorry. Oh Happy 4th of July. My second one missed. I wore red white and blue though. Don't you worry! OH! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! ADDRESS CHANGE! New address for you to send letters- (hint you should send me letters.. ) so yeah start using that! Thanks! Have a good week!

Week 55

Hello po! This week was crazy. We taught 45 lessons! Almost pure tracting. So we knock and knock and knock (but in reality- tao po!) But I have a great story about the last lesson- number 45. It was to a recent convert from last December I think. Since then she has gone a little less active and done some wrong things. And she was feeling it. She said she hasn't felt the Holy Ghost anymore and was just so far from Heavenly Father. When she would pray or read the Book of Mormon, or go to church she just felt like a hypocrite. Sister Mercado and I taught one of the most powerful lessons on repentance that I have ever taught. I felt so much love for this girl. I felt Heavenly Fathers love for her and the desire to bring her back. It is one of the strongest Spirits I have ever felt in a lesson. It's one year into my mission but I think last night for the first time I have really felt that THIS is what Heavenly Father needed me to do. I am merely His instrument to bring these people to Him. This past week I really realized that I am needed here in Polangui. I am going to try to give it my all here. Our area is pretty far out but its pretty small and easy to get around. Oh its rainy season here. So thats a fun thing. And my (NEW) umbrella broke. It lasted only two weeks. I think I have a curse with umbrellas. But other than that- it's been fun. Sister Mercado is great and cooks for me like super amazing Philippino food. So that is like heaven. And I am just learning to love everything here. I know that this church is true. I know that Heavenly Father loves each of us so much. And this gospel is the only way to be truly happy. I am so grateful that I am serving here and doing this work to help others. Even though I am tired and my body is always sore from walking- I couldn't be happier. I miss you all but I hope it's still a long time before I see you. I don't want to leave! :D

Wek 54

Hello po! Well I am now in Polangui. That is the northern part of my mission. I have just been going around Mount Mayon my whole mission. But yeah it is like right at the boarder of the mission. My new companion is sister Mercado from the Philippines. I've known her for a long time now so its fun being companions. We are just kind of living off on our own in the middle of no where teaching everyone. We taught 37 lessons- and almost pure tracting. I'm pretty sure I'm the first white missionary here so everyone is pretty shocked when they see me and let us in. So yeah it's gonna be interesting here. It's a lot of rice fields here... so that's fun to look at. And yeah I don't have a ton to say... But I definitely feel like I am in the Philippines now. Out living in the middle of no where ha being the only whitey. But I know I am meant to be here. And I really hope to see miracles here. I know I will. I hope you are all doing good! Namimiss ko kayo!

Week 53

Magadang hapon sa inyo lahat! This week was good! We found a new family to teach who show interest. Brother is really good at Bible ha. I have a cute story about a littleboy here. Let me try to share, It is about Kingzly, he is 6. Really really small though. Anyways he just started school this past week. This was our conversation...
"Kamusta ang pasok mo?" "ok lang... (sounding sad)" "ano? marami ka bang kaibigan?" "uhhh... maghahanap pa..." TRANSLATION "how is your school" "ok..." "what... do you have a lot of friends?" "uhhh still looking" idk it was SO FUNNY at the time. It was just a sweet answer of saying like he is still looking for friends because like he is new to school. But yeah I laughed for like 20 minutes. He's just a cute kid. Anyways. We had exchanges this week and we killed it. Me and the STL got 11 lessons in one day. It was great. We also had fun with Sister Guanzon at the mission home ha. Long story. Gonna miss the mission home... Anyways. We found out on Saturday that I am transferred... big surprise. Its really sad even though it was expected. I just love Legazpi. I love the people and love it all. I've seen so much progression here. I will really miss them all. But it was a great way to end things. We got 38 lessons. We taught 2 Family Home Evenings this past week. Ate at the Dorosans. Hung with Sister Guanzon. Ate at the Embarcadero. Really lived my last week in Legazpi to the fullest ha. We had stake conference on Saturday and Sunday about hastening the work specifically here in the Philippines. It's getting busy here! Ha. Hope you are all doing good! Mahal kita.

Week 51

Hello po! Well it was a crazy week. Legazpi City currently doesn’t have electricity. Its so… hot. Here is what happened- some transformer thingy broke for the electricity for the ENTIRE city. solegazpi is hot. hot hot hot. they like got it sort of fixed like short term- now its "roaming power" so like some places have electricity while others dont. it changes every 5 hours or so. so like we willhave power then none for a day or so. then have it again. its so so annoying.that started on saturday. but fromwednesday until saturday there was none. as in none. but saturday night wehad somefor like 5 hours. then we lost it. then sunday we had it  in the morning (for church! yay!) then none all day. but then we had it lsat night. but lost in while we were asleep. we dont have any now. But beside that it was a good week! Julie was married and baptized! After 5 years of being an investigator! It was a great day (really hot but great). She was so happy. But oh- I should tell the story. Well we get a text on Thursday saying that the wedding was postponed because the papers weren’t complete. So I went to bed super hot and super sad. It was a long night. Then on Friday we were studying and I was like “hey lets have Maricar work with us” (she is the niece of Julie… a member) So we text her. And she replies “don’t we need to decorate for the wedding” So after calling a bunch of people it turns out the wedding in on! And we have less than 5 hours to decorate the entire church and get everything set. It was so tiring. And so hot. But it turned out so nice. She is really happy now. But yeahwe had zone conference and exchanges this past week. It was ok. I just am so tired- you try sleeping in the Philippines without electricity. Yeah you can’t. Ha. What a life. Hope you all have a good week. Pray we get real electricity back…. Mahal ko kayo!

Week 50

I dont have much time... as always. But it was a good week! Sister Jemino is just so good that every week we keep improving and seeing more progress here! We were able to get an investigator to church for the first time yesterday. We are teaching the whole family, but only the wife came to church. But she really loved it and was excited to tell her family and bring them next week. So sana! The members here are so great. They keep texting asking to work with us... Only 1 time this week did we go out to work without a member. ONCE! We always have people with us and helping so its so much more fun. We have been super busy with planning with wedding for Julie. All the papers are ready to go so we just have to get it all together! We have a family home evening later tonight with their family. They are all so excited that it is so fun to teach them now. Julie is really progressing and so ready to be baptized. Speaking of which- Joseph was baptized! It was great. As we were singing the opening hymn we lose power... so it was hot. But the Spirit was strong. His testimony made me proud. Like I really see how much he has grown from the gospel and I am so glad I was able to help him. This week is crazy busy but will be great! I hope you are all doing well!

Week 49

This week was SO good and so full of miracles. I always think I can't be any happier- then the Lord just shows me more miracles in the work. I was a little homesick after skypeing with my family last week but like it so went away. I remember praying that He would give me work to do so I could be distracted and focused on the work and the people. It happened! We have had a ton of members working with us. And then on Saturday our one day mission was a super success. We visited a part member family and then they attended church all together yesterday- Yay! Sister Jemino is really taking the lead in this work. And in the area. She knows the members really well and they all love her. We have been getting texts from members asking if they could work with us- we don't even have to ask! They really are excited to help. So Bishop was finally able to talk with a different part member family after church and have helped them set a date for marriage. So after the wedding there will be a baptism for Sister! It was probably the biggest miracle I have seen on my mission. It has been 4 years that she has been an investigator and I am so so happy that now is the time to change that! She is really excited to get married and baptized as well. The current date is May 30 but depends on the marriage license arriving. Keep it in your prayers! Ha. I really am seeing that through our obedience and diligence the work is happening here in Legazpi. I am so happy to be serving here and am excited for this upcoming week. Our planner is already full and I just can't wait to do this work again. I love being here. I hope you are all doing good!

Week 48

Well I have no time but things were good! We are seeing progress in this part member family which makes me SO SO happy. Sister (the nonmember) has been reading the Book of Mormon and told us she wants to read it all and then decide about baptism. I know if she keeps reading she will know this church is true. And baptism is the way to show to return back to Heavenly Father. She also said the closing prayer, even thought at first she didn't want to! We had a SUPER fun Family Home Evening last night with this great family here. They really just need to all be active together in the church. There were a ton of little kids who were having so much fun. I can;t explain it all but it was one of the best nights in the mission for me. OH! we have a new house mate! Guess who! Sister Mwea! She used to be my housemate in my first area back when we were both new. Its so fun being together again! It was a good week I just have no time left! I hope you are all doing good! Namimiss ko kayo! Week 47

Hello po! I can’t believe its Monday already. Time is going too fast. Ayaw ko talaga. This past week was good! We got another 35! Sister Jemino is seriously the best missionary ever. Masipag to the max. We had a great week of teaching people and seeing miracles. We had a super less active come to church again yesterday so that is so exciting! We taught her at night and it was a great lesson. I see her testimony and her desire to come back and be an example for her family. We have an FHE next week that she plans to attend. I really see my faith growing as the weeks go by. I always think that I can’t do this and that I am too tired. But then we go out and will teach the world! Ha. The Lord really does give strength to do this work. OH! SUPER MASAYA AKO! DAHIL! BUMALIK NA ANG SHANGHAI ROLLS SA JOLLIBEE! AT MAY BAGONG SHAKES! (I am really happy because the shanghai rolls are back at Jollibee and they have new shakes) WHAT?! Do you know how much I love Jollibee lately? It’s probably showing ha. OH well. So yeah! There is my life! Oh ! And to prove that God answers prayers here in our experience on Saturday- we were in our far area on Saturday morning. It had taken us FOREVER to get there and we were praying that we wouldn’t have to wait long to get home. Well we get to the tricey and it had 5 people… That’s how many people that fit in a tricey… so it was ready to leave. But the driver is nice and says “if you can fit you can come!” SO we sit on the back where packages / boxes go. HA! It was painful but SO fun. But everyone was like laughing at this whitey sitting on the back. Oh well! Not that I’m that white anymore- When I see my tan lines I am shocked. I’m like black now! Ha. Malapit na! Philippina na ako! Sana… Anyways! Mahal kita! Have a good week!
Sis Ianuzi
Ps- soo I’ve actually written a ton of letters… now I just have no envelopes. So next week na lang I’ll send them out!

Week 46

i! It was a great week! We got 35 lessons AGAIN! And we are in training so like we have less time to work. But we did it because Sister Jemino is super hard working and amazing! We had exchanges this past week which were OK. Fun as always.  Oh cute story- last Monday we were walking to go teach someone and we pass this group of little girls. One screams “AMERICANA!” And she comes up running and hugs me and WONT let go. And then keeps screaming ‘kiss! Kiss’ but like yeah I’m pretty sure that’s against the rules so I didn’t. But she was so upset. But yeah we go teach then on the way back she is still there. She runs and hugs me again. Then a few days later we are back over there and it happens again! She like grabs on and won’t let go. Its so funny and cute. I should ask what her name is… OH! So this past week we decided we wanted cake… but like we should have a reason. SO! We decided to tell the other sisters in the apartment it was Sister Jeminos birthday on Friday. THEY BELIEVED IT. And I’m pretty sure they still think it is… We haven’t told them yet… But we got cake out of it! It was great ha. We probably will tell them this week.. Maybe ha. Oh I have a new addiction to Jollibee. I used to hate it. Then this past week I’ve eaten it every day of the week. The workers recognize me now. That’s a sign I should stop… but I don’t think I will. I also have been drinking a large amount of Mogu-Mogu lately. Which isn’t good either… I don’t know how to explain it. It’s like a drink with Nata de Coco in it. Ha. Anyways. That’s my week! It was great! Full of teaching and Jollibee and mogu-mogu! And this morning we went to the beach and took cool pictures. And I got a sunburn! YAY! Ha. Hope you are all doing well!

oh- and this morning I had a nice visit from a mouse. I wake up and go to the CR (bathroom) and at this point I wasn't wearing glasses yet and you all know I am blind. But yeah I go and see a black thing on the toilet seat before I sit ha and turns out its a mouse. I scream SO loud you can't imagine. Then climb up onto the top bunk bed and screamed until someone got it out of the house. #ilovesmallcreatures #mice #cockroaches #lizards #philippineslife

Week 45

Hello po! So this past week not a ton happened ha. It was Holy Week, so like everyone was busy. We had curfews some of the days so that just meant less work. We experienced the meaning of “walking alone” this past week. There was a big parade starting down the street in about 30 minutes so we hurried to get out of the area. As we walk down the street EVERYONE ELSE is walking the opposite direction to go get seats to watch the parade. We literally were the only ones going the one way. It was very lonely ha.  We had a training workshop for new missionaries this past week which was fun. Good food. Ha. We were able to find a new investigator this past week who is great! His name is John. We were out working last Monday night and it was raining and I was tired after a long preparation day. We were out and went to all the people we had planned but unfortunately none were home. So we start to tract. Sister Jemino gets the impression to stop at one house that I would have walked right by. They had the TV on loudly and there were a lot of people. But of course we stop and knock. They let us in! And brother is so nice and interested and already committed to church next week. We were able to set up an appointment to go back later in the week. We go back and continue to teach and he opens up to us and I can tell he really needs this gospel in his life. He did come to church yesterday and he was sharing a lot in classes and told us he really enjoyed it. I am so excited for his progression. SO yeah it was great! And the yesterday ha. Nagbihis ako ng damit ng patay. Which in English is- I changed the clothes of a dead person. Ha! I still can’t believe it happened. We just finished teaching then we were going to the next appointment but planned to stop at the viewing of this old lady member that died last week. When we get there they were getting ready to change her clothing and SOMEHOW they got me and Sister Jemino to do it. That was… yeah. But at the end she looked really pretty. At least we know she is in a good place. SO yeah that was my week. We didn’t do much for Easter. Just changed a dead person’s clothing. Hahaha. Anyways hope you are all doing good! Namimiss ko kayo!

Week 44

We had a long week of tracting but we had a lot of fruit. We got 5 new investigators this week. We got this 1 new couple witha  bunch of little kids that live super close to the church. we even went to them like at 830 last night and they let us in even though they were getting ready to sleep. Turns out that brother works with a member too. Its the Abinion family. So hopefully things work out! we've taught them twice now. we extended a baptismal date but they said yes to the baptism but no to the date beacuse they dont want to promise and then it not happen.. thats kind of usual for an answer. but hey! it was actually realyl good. so they have a 12 yhear old daughter but we havent met her yet... and then 2 young kids under 8. oh yeah! We watched conference this past weekend! (in english... our investigator didnt show up :/)  i loved like them all! probably my favorite were
a priceless heritage of hope
i have given you an example ( loved this one! probably because of all the examples that have helped me get here )
let your faith show
your four minutes
obedience through our faithfulness
where your treasure is (ha of course. its was from the philippino! when he talked everyone was like "YAY!")
ha thats kind of a lot. :) everything is just so good! i really felt like i learned a lot about the importance of our faith. i love general conference!
So i didn;t even really realize it was Easter this upcomng sunday until I read your email... sooo yeah so far we have no plans. But we do have a curfew this upcomnig weekend because things are kind of crazy... its really catholic here so its holy week. And like people react the like Crucifixion here... and yeah its kind of weird. ivejust heard stories but hopefully i dont see anything like that...
tell sister sands thanks for the package in advance before i forget ha. it takes about 1 month or so to get packages. letters take liek 2 weeks... you should send me letters (i dont really ahve a right to say that... i havent written you in forever... sorry! ) mostly i just need your prayers for ellaine. she just hasnt been coming to church anymore... we keep moving her bdate. she says she wants to but then wont come to church :/ its really making me sad. i love her so much. she was so close and now seems so far. idk what changed.
So thank you! i hope you have a good week! and a good easter! enjoy the company. i miss everyone from back home but its all good. when is mothers day? i really need a calender hahaha i never know when anything is. that will be fun to skype! our last one before i get home! woah! ha. malapit na! (but not really... ) so yeah! i love you!
